My 7 month old Golden just returned home from Board and Train - Sending her to JPK9 academy was one of the best decisions we have ever made. I was skeptical because I had too many questions about how she would return to us. She fell in love with her trainer, and came back to us the same dog that we sent away but with manners! The commands we have been given are basic and simple. The group classes offered are excellent and the expectations for our training as owners are very clear. Our very rambunctious Bailey has been set up for success by the whole team. Best part is we feel like we have partners in giving our pup all that she needs as there is so much to learn! 10/10

We have known Jay and his team now for over 3 years and I can’t speak highly enough about them!
We first found JPK9 back in 2020 when my husband and I decided we wanted a Malinois. We didn’t take that lightly and knew this breed would be constant work but were excited and hopeful. Fast forward a few months we realized we were a bit in over our heads with her so we went looking for a good trainer. Stormi did the board and train program and we were nervous to send her off to a stranger for a few weeks but Josh patiently talked us through all our questions and concerns. Stormi trained with Kaelyn, and when we got her back we were in shock and in awe - she was still her crazy goofy self but had an incredible baseline/foundation of obedience that we were so excited to build on. Three+ years later she’s still an incredibly trained pup who we love to work with. It’s constant work to keep a dog well trained but even when we fall off for a bit (we had a kid and babies + dogs is a lot of work) when we got back to regular trainings, her foundation was still strong and we built right back to where we left off with the tools and methods JPK9 team showed us.
After our baby was walking/running around, we started having aggression issues with our 5 year old Aussie Finnley (our mal is wonderful with the baby thanks to the training she got and we continue to upkeep), so we decided to also send Finnley to JPK9 for training. I was a little skeptical because he is the most stubborn dog, but after a few weeks with Ryan, we had the same experience as when we left Stormi with them- he came back to us very confident and obedient but still his happy fun self. He actually seems happier than before and much less anxious. I laughed at how I could have possibly been skeptical, because this team truly is the best.
This team is incredible and we are SO grateful for their ongoing help, guidance and expertise. We know we can call them with anything we are experiencing, or come to group training and have them help us through whatever we are struggling with. Josh and his team treat all their pups and pup parents like family, I’ve seen and experienced it first hand over these last few years. I can’t thank them enough for showing us how to have happy healthy and productive relationships with our fur babies. We are forever grateful!!!

I have a bully mix named Rita who was extremely fearful. This got to a point where it was very difficult to get her outside to go potty. She would stop where she stands when she hears the slightest noise..people talking, cars driving by or starting, motorcycles, trucks, a pin dropping. You name it, she’s scared of it. It caused lots of pulling, unable to get her the exercise she needs because nobody enjoyed it. Especially Rita. I have been following Jay and his team through instagram for almost 4 years now, so right away I knew who I would be contacting, because most other B&T’s are in a facility, with your dog locked in a kennel all day. That’s just not how Jay and his team do it. I contacted Jay and he lead me through the process, and made me even more comfortable than I already was with letting my dog be in their care. On drop off day, we got partnered up with Vic as our trainer. Vic was very informative at drop off, we got daily updates through instagram stories during the training. He does not slack when it comes to training these dogs. He was patient throughout the whole process. The day before drop off, I could barely get Rita out the front door. By day 6 of B&T with Vic, Rita was holding a down at the corner of a street with cars and trucks passing by! Fast forward to day 28, she’s holding a down with some distance, obeying commands outside of the home, taking treats (rewards) in public! Everything that she could not and would not do a month ago, she now can! Vic showed us the tools they use, and how to PROPERLY use them. Rita looks happier and healthier than ever after 4 weeks with Vic! He was also very honest about the fact that genetics play a big role in a lot of dogs behavior, and it will take lots of training and consistency on my part to get Rita where she really needs to be. Not every training day will be a good training day, but he set a great foundation that I can now build off of, and teach not only Rita new things but myself as well! The best part!? FREE group classes 2x a week for the life of the dog once B&T is complete! Which I highly recommend you take advantage of!! Overall, I have to agree that JPK9 is the BEST in the bay! Remember, good training isn’t cheap and cheap training isn’t good. This is the best investment I have made and I do not regret it. Any other dog I get will be sent straight to them. Happy to finally be part of the JPK9 family. Even happier that because of them, my dog gets to have a much better quality of life. THANK YOU VIC AND JAY!!!

I definitely RECOMMEND JPK9 to all those who love their dogs! He and his team did a FANTASTIC job training my (almost) 3 year old Malinois, Lucky❤️ Before her training, Lucky was skittish and aggressive as a result of her nervousness and fear… She is now gracefully obedient and walks with me without much pulling … She is calmer and more confident which shows in her ease in attitude and behaviors… She feels comfortable in her skin so life is easier for her and I’m totally enjoying our companionship and life together… Many thanks to JP and his AMAZING team for their wonderful skillful training and continued love and support✨ ❤️

Highly recommend JPK9 and I’ll start with a little backstory. My Rottweiler, Ellis, and I moved to the Bay Area a few years ago and since Rottweilers are labeled as an ‘aggressive breed,’ training has always been important to us. When we moved, the COVID pandemic hit and Ellis suffered a broken ankle which required two surgeries that kept her laying very low for about 10 months.
The recovery time deteriorated her confidence and with all other group training options closed because of COVID, we focused on self training to rebuild the foundation. We got to a point where we needed more help in controlled environments to train around other dogs and distractions. I wanted to maintain a consistent environment for Ellis to socialize and continue rebuilding her confidence, and I came across JPK9 which offered all of that on an ongoing basis.
I reached out to Jay and he and Ryan helped us get that reset we were looking for. They helped tailor training methods to be gentle with her healing ankle so we got success with no further injury. It’s consistently been a great experience with JPK9!

Hands down, one of the best investments I have made was taking my goofy dog to the JPK9 team. Rolex trained with Kae for the full month and came back, as the bestest good boy.
Kae was extremely nice and very informative throughout the entire month. I enjoyed every update and immediately noticed Rolex’s improvement. I was SO comfortable knowing my boy was in such great hands - Kae is truly dedicated to her craft and is extremely talented.
I am able to take Rolex out and about without ANY hesitations. He “downs” at restaurants while there’s many pups and people around, he doesn’t flinch around distractions and he (finally) respects my boundaries.
10/10 Call Jay up and book your pup the training they and you deserve. 🙂

The best choice we’ve made as dog owners!
In February, we rescued a 4 month old Doberman puppy. We named him DOBIE and soon found out that he had so much energy that we didn’t know how to properly harness and give him the mental stimulation he needed. We had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. We ended up doing so much research on the breed and knew we needed help setting a good foundation for him so he could be included in our busy lifestyle.
We decided to go with JPK9 because an old friend of mine had her dog enrolled in their program and she HIGHLY recommended them! I immediately called Jay and decided to sign him up for a 4 week B&T. We waited 6 months to get him into their program and it was definitely worth it! During the 6 months, Jay gave us homework for him to be prepared for his B&T. He had so many bad habits from his previous owner, it was honestly really hard for us to know if we’d even be a good fit for him. But the 6 months flew by and before we knew it, his bad habits had almost completely been trained out! We knew we were ready for more advanced obedience with him and to learn how to manage his overexcitement. Dobie had Vic as a trainer — who also has a Doberman so he already understood the breed.
We got him back a couple weeks ago and are immediately seeing the results!
He was already a really great dog, we just wanted to make sure we understood him as much as possible so he could have more freedom with structure and discipline. With having a Doberman, they are so big and dominant that it’s important to have control of them. We battled with his excitement around other dogs and people — I struggled to handle how strong he was getting. Now we are learning so much about his capabilities and building our relationship with him that training feels like therapy! Knowing that he will listen to our commands and not freak out when other dogs and people find an interest in him makes us want to take him everywhere!
Now we keep getting complimented on how well behaved he is that people can’t believe he’s only 11 months. It’s been the best decision we’ve made as dog owners — having peace of mind knowing that he will listen to us and having the best foundation set for him to grow into a confident and calm dog. He’s the best behaved out of our entire family and apartment dogs!
We could not be happier with the results that Jay and Vic brought us & the group classes they have twice a week are a HUGE help! Definitely recommend to anyone who has a dog!

Complete confidence boost:
My dog was deemed “extremely fear aggressive” by my vet and had bit someone out of fear. I knew I needed someone I could trust to support Buster without judgment or fear. I was worried when I learned Buster would be with Vic, because he shows more reactivity towards men. However, at drop off, he lunged toward Vic, who showed no real reaction or fear and I knew he was in good hands. We decided to muzzle Buster for both of their safety and by the next day, the muzzle was gone and Buster was already beginning to trust Vic.
At classes, Buster always wants to greet Vic and show him love, so I know they have a real bond and genuine trust.
After the 4 week B&T, I now take buster everywhere with me without worrying how he’ll act. He has the confidence to be near strangers without reacting and even will hold downs and follow commands in over-stimulating environments.
I even left him with my partner while I went on vacation for a week and didn’t have to worry thanks to his new found confidence and skill set.
That said, the B&T isn’t a permanent solution. Dogs need continuous training to keep their skills. That’s why the team at JPK9 ensure owners are equipped with skills to continue their dog’s training in the real world and provide twice-weekly classes to brush up on skills and work on new skills.
I recommend JPK9 to everyone I know with a dog! I fully believe JPK9 means it when they say “any dog.”

We’ve always had fur babies. Kona is our first small female dog. She’s a beautiful 11lb Havanese. She melts my heart. I definitely treat her different than our other male Goldens. She’s my princess. And she knows it. Which makes her a bit defiant. She knows she has me wrapped around her paws. My concern is she would not come on command and the potential of her running down the street to dangerous traffic is unbearable.
Brinkley-Kai is our third Golden. They are so lovable. But they can be goofballs. 😊 He’s 75lbs and pulled on walks. Tugging back on him was a regular occurrence.
I wanted to be a better pawrent with these two. I wanted to do something different and find expert training to help me be a better one with them. I fully believe that bad dog behavior is because of bad owner skills or lack of knowledge. I needed help. I wanted help. So I started watching dog trainer shows on tv. On YouTube. On Netflix. And on social media. And in social media is how I found Jay and JPK9. I was a bit skeptical because YELP is my immediate go to for everything. Followed by YouTube. I was disappointed that I couldn’t find very much and that started my skepticism.
But I followed Jay on IG & FB. I watched the stories. I eventually called him one morning and I was surprised he picked up. Most calls are sent to voicemail. That’s what I do. But he picked up and I could tell he was on a training walk. He answered my questions and explained why I couldn’t find much on him online. His business is relied heavily on word of mouth and referrals. I understood that because so is mine. I could relate. He told me there was about a six month wait. Wow. He’s that busy I thought. But that’s how my business is too. I sell Lexus. And with the current global car shortage all I could do is take deposits and my guests would get their car in 6-12 months. I was relating to what he was telling me.
He gave me the quote and I said thank you. Book him or not. He’s still has a long waiting list. If I didn’t get on the list someone else would get that spot. Exactly how my business has been. I rely heavily on referrals and 5 star reviews for my continued success. Same as Jay. I knew I liked him. But the cost was a huge factor and I’ve never spent anything like that on any of my previous dogs. But I wanted better for these two. And I took the leap of faith and reserved our spot. However that came with 6-7 months of going back and forth of having 2nd thoughts and wondering if I did the right thing.
Fast forward to a few weeks ago and I got the text from Jay that an opening came up weeks before I was scheduled. I absolutely took it. Now came the uneasy feeling of being away from them for two weeks. But I was excited.
We met Jay and Kae and handed our babies to them. He assigned Kae to our children. They stayed at her home for two weeks. Meeting both of them calmed my nerves. I now knew they were in excellent hands and this was the right choice and Jay was the right pick.
I loved Kae’s daily stories on IG and was wowed by their immediate learning on day one. That’s my Kona??? Who is that little dog obeying her commands? What an immediate improvement.
They came home four days ago and I couldn’t wait to start on their follow up training with me taking the lead now.
Check out my IG and FB stories posts and reels. I can’t stop posting and boasting on how well they’re doing. 🥹 Walking and training them is so much fun now because I’m no longer frustrated. Kae set the foundation. Now it’s up to us to build on that foundation. Tonight is our first group class and I can’t wait. Jay and Kae have changed our lives. Every day I come home to two overly excited pups greeting me at the door wanting immediate attention jumping and barking on me. Not last night. They remained in their cot until I was ready to release them. Wow wow wow!!!! I can not over recommend JPK9. Results speak for themselves. If you are on the fence. Get off the fence. And reserve your spot now. Because if you don’t, someone else will!!! You will not be disappointed. Just like me.

JPK9 is the real deal. Sent my Rottweiler sancho away for a 4 week boarding train. He was dog/people reactive , couldn’t take him out that much because he would always cause a scene when other dogs/ people would walk by. But ever since he has came back I am able to take him out everyday , go on long walks , walk into crowded areas and not have to worry about sancho acting up . I could finally take sancho out with confidence, and let him be a dog and enjoy life outside of the house. I recommend JPK9 to everyone who compliments sancho and his manners when we are out and about because you get real results when you train with JPK9.

Choosing Jay and his team at JPK9 was the best decision we made for Luna. A little back story.. We adopted Luna at 4 months and she has a disability of being Deaf. We felt like we plateaued with her training and wasn’t able to socialize her as much due to me getting into a major motorcycle accident that left me in a wheel chair for almost a year. This lead to a lot of reactivity and we had no proper way of correcting it.
We reached out to Jay in July 2022 to lock in our spot! The short conversation I had with Jay over the phone gave me peace of mind that we made the right choice.
We dropped of Luna in March and Kae was our trainer, she did a wonderful job with Luna. She kept us up to date on social media and I felt like Kae treated Luna as her own dog. We knew she was in good hands.
We now have a good foundation with Luna that helps build our relationship and bond with her. We are now able to take her on trips, walk her in public crowded places, and Luna is able to be “Neutral” around other dogs with responsible owners. It’s been two months since she graduated from her B&T and it’s been nothing but great! Training never stops and we are grateful for JPk9. A trained dog is a happy dog!

I absolutely recommend jpk9 to everyone! I believe their hard work, dedication, and strong routine has set them up to be successful and great. Vic was our trainer, he was super awesome and genuine thank you for training our boy. I couldn’t thank you guys enough for all you have done for us and guiding us with the tools we need to be the best dog owners. Sincerely jasmine

I cannot recommend JPK9 enough. Prior to his B&T with his trainer Vic, Benji had a multitude of issues, the biggest ones being dog reactivity and incessant pulling on leash. He’s over 100 pounds of fluff and was extremely hard to handle. We needed help desperately so we signed up for the 4 week B&T (and now attend the twice weekly classes).
Vic set Benji up with the proper foundation for me to learn how to handle him. Vic was able to help correct a lot of Benji’s behavioral issues and also teach me how to apply it in our everyday lives. Now we are able to go out to dog friendly restaurants, on hikes, on vacations, and even go shopping together! Benji is a definitely head turner because of his size, but even more so now that he’s so much more obedient.
I am immensely thankful for Vic and the JPK9 team. Even after the B&T, they are there to help us through any new challenges and they continue to push our progress forward.

This review is long over due. I sent my golden retriever “Ford” to the two week board and train when he was 9 months old. Kae was his amazing trainer who helped my wild boy gain confidence and obedience. The picture I posted below was a year after his training. Ford was holding his down at a picket line where other dogs were around, people were yelling, and cars honking. I receive so many compliments on my “good boy”, I always explain to them that the best investment I made for Ford was sending him to JPK9 training.

Working along side Jay has been a very great experience and help for us and our dog karma herself. We had karma do a B&T with Jay for one month.
Prior to the B&T karma was always stressed and very unsure of many things around her or anywhere she was at. She would always pull on walks and bark at other dogs when they were around.
Afterwards Karma came back more confident than ever, is now able to hold her commands in different settings, and around different distractions. Walking her has became way easier now that she no longer pulls and is more obedient even around other dogs or animals. Jay also trained us how to handle her prior to Karma coming home and gave us different tools to further communicate with our dog and further our relationship with karma. I would highly recommended JPK9 B&T to anyone who has any issues with their companions because their work over at JPK9 speaks for itself.

It’s been about a month since we brought Lucky home from his 4 week Board and Train and we couldn’t be happier. The best decision we could have made for Lucky. We rescued Lucky back in 2021 and he had a lot of reactivity issues to work through. He lacked confidence and control. He attacked our cat a few times and just would not respond to commands. He resource guarded our golden and all the dog toys.
We finally decided to send him to B&T and it changed our lives. Lucky is so responsive to commands now and is a lot more confident! He’s still a nervy dog but we now have the tools and weekly group trainings to keep working on it. Before sending him with JPK9, we had to keep our cat and Lucky separated at all times. Now our cat can enjoy all parts of our home without any stress and Lucky’s natural prey drive is more under control. His first night home, he made advances towards our cat but as soon as we gave the no and down command, Lucky instantly stopped!
Special shout out to our handler Kae. Not only did she do a great job training Lucky but she cared for him as if he were her own. Lucky had an unfortunate accident occur during B&T which landed him at the vet getting stitches but Kae took such good care of him. We never worried once or felt the need to bring him home because Kae handled it with such gentleness and care. Had Lucky been boarding with ANYONE else, we would have brought him straight home but the JPK9 team left us with no worries at all. Kae also provided multiple updates per day on her instagram and is so responsive to any questions we have. She takes the time to answer our questions and work with us beyond our B&T to ensure we are supporting Lucky the best we can.
If you’re considering getting your dog into training (which you should) JPK9 is the way to go! Best decision we’ve made.

When my family and I rescued Ares, she came with lots of reactivity issues and no manners. As time went on, her reactivity got worse which led to biting other people. We brought her to a trainer, who basically told us she was a “lost cause and a danger to those around her”.
After finding JPK9, I knew that’s where Ares belonged. I loved that they keep the dogs with them in their homes and the constant updates they had throughout the day.
We signed her up for their 4 week board and train, where she got paired with Vic. From the start, we knew she was going to do amazing with him. He was very reassuring and made sure to thoroughly answer any questions.
Vic was posting videos daily of Ares’s progress and it was so awesome to watch! On pick up day we had a 1 hour training session where he showed us how to use new tools and how to better communicate with Ares. Walks with Ares are now fun, enjoyable, and not at all stressful. Since Ares has been home, Vic has answered all our questions without hesitation.
When we went to group class for the first time everyone was very welcoming and the trainers were extremely helpful. They were constantly giving me tips on how to handle Ares better. Seeing Ares be neutral around so many dogs and people was mind blowing.
Ares is not 100% perfect but this phase has been very fun and we can’t wait to progress even more. I cannot thank Vic and the JPK9 team enough. They will take any dog and treat them like family. Eternally grateful ❤️🖤

Highly recommend JPK9 to anyone thinking about it! Jay and his team are highly knowledgable and provide so many resources for you to be successful long term with your pup!
My girl Aria is a 4 year old saluki mix who is typically reactive, fearful, and not very confident. She would show aggression and act out of fear to new people and dogs. I did not feel confident in my skills and would be so stressed going new places or having people over at my house.
I sent Aria in October 2022 for 4 weeks and Vic was our trainer. I really appreciated how he took her in like his own. He had multiple updates per day of Aria's progress and I felt like I've been able to learn so much from watching the way he handles dogs.
Upon getting Aria back, i've learned Aria is a good dog, she just needed some structure and for me to understand how to handle her. I am feeling so confident in my skills after only a few group classess. I like that Jay and the team provide live feedback during class. They are clear in what to do and I see results. I'm happy to say Aria is less reactive, more confident, and enjoying her training sessions. I thought training would feel like work however I really enjoy training with Aria now. I feel like Aria and I have an even better relationship now 🙂
Thanks Vic and team for providing me the space and tools to give Aria a better life. We are so thankful.

When Alvic and I first rescued Max he would bark at people, animals, and random objects. People received the impression max was a mean and scary German Shepard that would attack them. The reality was max feared everyone and everything. Behind this is reactive behavior was just a scared dog who was actually very sweet. After trying our best to correct his behavior we decided the best decision we could make was have him board and train with JPK9.
The amazing kaelyn was able to restore Max’s confidence and give him a solid foundation. She taught him leash obedience and worked on his reactivity. Alvic and I are now able to take max on walks regularly without having to worry about his reactivity. We receive compliments from strangers about max’s amazing behavior unlike before we received frightened stares. We know the training never stops but without Kaelyn we wouldn’t have the max we have today. We can’t express our gratitude enough for the amazing work you have done Kaelyn. On top of all the amazing work JPK9 offers group classes every week where many of the board and train clients attend. The group classes have also helped us become more confident in our ability to handle max. We never thought our Max could change but JPK9 was able to do it. I can confidently 100% recommend the JPK9 team 🖤❤️.

Working with JPK9 had been the best decision I've made for my dog Odie. Odie went through the one month board and train program and has changed so much for the better.
Prior to the training, Odie was always anxious and didn't know how to settle and relax. He was especially bad around big groups of people and whenever he was outside the house. Other issues including always pushing boundaries, leashing pulling, and dog reactivity when going on walks.
I am not going to lie and say Odie was perfect after training but he is 1000x better. Now he is able to settle no matter how many people are around and walking him is no longer a stressful process. JPK9 gives you tools to further bond with your dog and grow that connection. I'd reccomend anyone with a dog to go through this training!
